Description
This is an early 19th-century smiddy, located to the rear of Anvil House on Main Street, Golspie. It is a single-storey range laid out in an L-shape. The exterior is constructed of squared pink rubble, with roughly tooled dressings and snecking. The northwest-facing elevation features an advanced bay to the left with a door, and to the right a horizontally divided door and window. At the extreme right is a low, slab-roofed projection, likely originally used for housing bellows. A stack is located on the southwest gable.
The elevation facing the sea has a gable on the right, with an off-centre window. An unusual asymmetrical apex stack, featuring a light jamb joining the skew at a lower level than the rest of the stack, is also present. Both stacks incorporate thackstanes. The roof is covered in corrugated iron.
