Description
Laurina Villa, located at 10 Canonbury Terrace in Fortrose, is a building designed in the style of Alexander Ross, dating from around 1865. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features two storeys with three bays. The central bay is slightly advanced and topped with a shaped gable.
At the centre, there is a slightly advanced porch with a parapet, which has an entrance framed by engaged columns with stiff-leaf capitals that support a round arch. The first-floor window above the porch is bipartite. The outer bays have ground floor bay windows with bowed sides, topped with bracketed crenellated parapets that feature segmental pediments with shields at their centres. The first-floor windows in these bays are also bipartite and have shaped gablet dormer-heads.
A rope-moulded eaves course runs along the outer bays, stepping as a hood-mould over the centre first-floor window, leading to a parapet. The roof is slated. There is a late 19th-century wing at the rear of the building, and to the west, there is a conservatory from around 1900, which has a crested ridge.
The property is complemented by polygonal gatepiers topped with ball finials, along with cast-iron gates and railings.
