Description
Coulmore is an early 19th century house constructed of cherry-pointed coursed rubble with polished ashlar dressings. The main block is originally three bays wide with a central doorway, but it was altered in 1912 by George Gordon and Co. who added boldly projecting two-storey bows to the outer bays. The roof is slated, with two piended dormers likely dating from around 1876.
An east-facing wing was added in 1876 by John Rhind. This wing is built of rubble with a slated roof and features a rustic porch, and is four bays wide.
Historical records, including an advertisement for tenders in the Inverness Courier on October 5, 1876, document the 1876 alterations. Ordnance Survey maps from 1872 and 1906 also show the property.
