Description
Greenhill House is an early 19th-century, two-storey and attic house with three bays, originally designed with a central front door. Later additions include east and west gable wings. The south elevation is faced with polished ashlar, while the gables and rear elevation are of coursed rubble. A small, pedimented portico supported by slender wooden columns, resting on a low coped wall and a short flight of steps, features at the front. A long window to the rear provides light for the staircase. The roof is slate, with two canted dormers exhibiting wooden eaves ventilation and an ashlar eaves band. The windows are 12-pane sashes. A single-storey painted wooden office wing is located to the right, and a single-storey harled wing (built in 1977) extends to the left; both have slate roofs. A long window to the rear illuminates the staircase. Historically, the house is believed to have been built as the Factor's House for the Redcastle Estate.
