Description

W R Davidson, 1900-1, additions 1905. Scottish Vernacular

Revival. 2 storey and attic asymmetrical L-plan with

corbelled corner turrets, crowsteps to main gables and

projecting wings; gabled dormerheads to some 1st floor

windows. Harled over rubble (harled with beach grit)

bullfaced rubble dressings and crowsteps. Main entrance at

centre of long NE elevation set in bullfaced rubble walling;

shallow corbelled and harled 1st floor with 5 symmetrically

placed small windows, cross wing to SE with irregular

fenestration. Tall cylindrical chimney at short arm of L, and

turret to NE corner having conical roof and lead finial; seat

in curved recess and 2 raised wallhead gabled dormers.

Windows mainly small to NE elevation with 4 pane glazing.

Long garden (SW) elevation with corner turret to left (as at

NE); entrance recessed by south crosswing, with stair window

off-centre above, rising through eaves to segmental pediment.

Regular 12-pane fenestration; gabled dormerheads 1st floor;

Welsh slate roof; stone ridge.

Harled walls to north screening service area and linking

house with garden loggia and with service cottage. Sunken

garden. Linkside Cottage: W R Davidson, 1918. Service cottage incorporating garage to Linkside. Asymmetrical single storey

and attic; harled with bullfaced rubble dressings and

crowsteps. 1 piended dormer; deep moulded chimney copes as at

Linkside. Welsh slate roof; stone ridge.

Circa 1900 rubble boundary wall with curved stone cope to

north, south and west sides. Scalloped walling to Seabank

Road (east), harled with stugged ashlar cope. Square stugged

rubble gate piers with pyramidal caps.
