Description

Broomholm Lodge, located at 56 Seabank Road in Nairn, was designed by W R Davidson in 1903, with alterations and additions made by the same architect in 1923. This is a two-storey and attic L-plan house, featuring a harled exterior with bull-faced rubble around the segmental head door surround. The northeast front has a wide gabled bay with an off-centre recessed door and irregular window arrangement, while the southeast wing includes stair windows. Tall chimney stacks frame the projecting gable, with additional stacks at the southeast gable.

On the southwest elevation, there is a symmetrical three-bay section with a recessed central door beneath a round arch, two-storey canted bays, and three flat-roofed dormers, along with two extra bays to the south. The windows are mainly 12-pane sashes. A high harled wall screens the service area and features a stepped ashlar cope.

The service cottage, also designed by W R Davidson in 1923 for Broombank, is a single-storey and attic structure with a symmetrical design and a jerkin-headed roof. It has a harled exterior with 12-pane glazing and a slate roof. Surrounding the cottage is a rubble garden wall with a rounded stone cope on three sides, and a scalloped wall along Seabank Road (northeast) that is harled with a stugged ashlar cope and rustic wood infill. Square stugged rubble gate piers with pyramidal copes complete the entrance.
