Description

The Old Parish Church Manse, built in 1898 by William Mackintosh, is a Gothic-style building located at 3 Manse Road in Nairn. It features two storeys and an asymmetrical three-bay facade facing the street to the west, with a projecting square crenellated porch on the south elevation. The exterior is constructed of snecked rubble with polished ashlar dressings.

On the west elevation, there is a square bay window on the ground floor to the right, which has a cusped balustrade. Above this, a tripartite window is set with a relieving arch and a gabled head. The left side of the facade includes a two-storey canted window within a wide gabled bay that has a crenellated parapet and stone gable head finials. A corbelled parapet and a corner turret, supported by an engaged column, project over the ground floor and are topped with a conical fishscale slate roof.

Many of the windows feature cusped upper lights and are designed with mullions and transoms. The building has a slate roof adorned with a decorative tile ridge, and there is a low coped rubble garden wall surrounding the property.
