Description

Sir Robert Lorimer, 1912. 2-storey and attic house with

basement to E on falling ground. Random rubble with

galetting. Slate hanging to canted bay. 1st floor

windows under eaves. 1st floor projecting slightly at S

elevation. Originally one house, now divided. 1st floor

offset at intervals.

S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: L-plan with 2 projecting bays in

re-entrant angle, with doorway on W return. Lean-to

conservatory addition on rubble base to outer with French

windows behind. Service door to advanced right wing

flanked by 2 windows at ground. Variety of windows and

sizes, single bi and tripartite. Piend-roofed bipartite

dormers at intervals.

N (GARDEN) ELEVATION: U-plan. Irregular and altered

openings. Doorway off-centre to left with stair window

above. Full-height 4-light broad shallow canted bays to

advanced outer ends. Dormers as above.

E ELEVATION: 3-storey and attic. Asymmetrical openings

and double door off-centre to left. Unfortunate

flat-roofed service court projecting at outer left.

Small-pane glazing to casement windows with some

unhappy modern windows inserted. Slate hung dormers.

Rubble stacks. Distinctive large Caithness slates.

GARAGE: galetted rubble, rectangular plan single garage,

  1. Slate piend roof swept down at W end, garage

doors at E end. NE angle chamfered and mitred to

square by eaves. N elevation blank; 3 small lights to S

elevation.

Random rubble boundary walls and parapet to driveway

by rising ground to S and W.
