Description

Teviotdale is a 2-storey house built in 1898 by Sir Robert Lorimer, designed in a roughly L-shaped plan with a later single-storey extension to the west. The exterior is harled with ashlar cills and features a first-floor set-off at intervals.

On the east elevation, there is a round-arched porch located at the re-entrant angle to the right of a recessed south wing, which has two grouped windows to the left and a roof that sweeps over the ground floor. To the left, there is a single-storey flat-roofed service bay with a bipartite window. The north wing extends at right angles to the doorway and includes a full-height, five-light canted bay to the right. The roof has an M-gable with carved details in the valley and features a circular angle turret to the right, topped with a cone roof and three narrow single lights at both the ground and first floors. A rectangular flat-roofed porch addition is located at the centre, with single windows and a door on the left side, along with two small uneven openings.

The north elevation displays an advanced gabled bay to the right, featuring a gable head slit and carved details. There is a single-storey rectangular projection added at the centre by the re-entrant angle, which includes a multi-light canted window. To the outer right, there are two bays of single-storey addition with assorted window sizes, including one, two, four, and five lights. The angle turret on this elevation mirrors the one on the east side.

The west elevation has asymmetrical openings, with a projecting outbuilding to the right and a gabled single-storey extension to the outer left. The house features harled stacks with ashlar coping and is roofed with grey slates. The property is accessed through drum gatepiers made of rubble with semi-circular caps, accompanied by a rubble boundary wall with semi-circular coping.
