Description

Thurston Lodge is a two-storey and attic house built around 1900 in the Arts and Crafts style. The exterior is harled.

On the west elevation, there is a projecting porch supported by timber columns, which leads to a jettied gabled first floor. To the left, a stair window is present, and to the right, a swelling tapering stack rises above the eaves. At the southeast corner, there is a circular angle turret featuring narrow vertical lights at the ground level and small windows on the first floor. The turret has overhanging eaves and an ogee roof topped with a distinctive finial. The outer bays to the left are recessed, and there is a modern addition in the re-entrant angle on the north elevation. The roof sweeps down to the ground floor, incorporating a dormer.

The east elevation has irregular openings, with a semi-circular dormer-head at the center. To the right, there is a stack and a flat-roofed dormer.

On the south elevation, the turret on the left is balanced by a rectangular projecting gabled bay on the right, which features a five-light window at the ground level and a window on the first floor. A semi-circular pedimented dormer is located in the center, with a flat-roofed dormer above it. The sash and case windows have small-pane glazing, and the stacks are coped and harled. The eaves are bracketted with deep plain barge boards, and the roof is covered with red plain tiles.
