Description
The Rectory is a house built in 1870, designed in the early Arts and Crafts style. It features an irregular arrangement of gabled elements and is constructed from brick and tile. The building has two storeys and an attic, with the front (south) side displaying one large window and one smaller window, along with a gabled projection on the west side. The roof is tiled, with gables and some hips at the rear. The upper walls are covered in tile-hanging, which has scalloped bands and a noticeable tilt at the base, while the lower walls are made of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring cambered arches and a plinth. The windows include casements, some of which are upper oriels with tiled canopies and brackets supporting the cills. The main ground-floor window is set within a projecting brick frame topped with a tiled canopy, and there are several sashes of varying widths on the ground floor. A verandah on the east side of the front provides shelter for a simple doorway. The west elevation is notable for its elaborate chimney stack, a gablet, and a two-storey gabled projection.
