Description

Maclehouse Booksellers, located at 57, 59, and 61 St Vincent Street in Glasgow, is a classical building designed by J T Rochead around 1850. It is three stories high and has five bays, featuring altered Edwardian shopfronts that flank the entrance to the upper floors. The building is constructed of ashlar stone, which is droved on the side elevation. The ground floor has a fascia that serves as a cill for the first-floor Doric aedicule windows. There is a shouldered moulded cill course and architraves on the second floor, along with a dentil band and a consoled cornice at the top. The building is capped with a die parapet and has a short ashlar return on the eastern side facing National Bank Lane.
