Description

The Commercial Bank, located at 86-88 Cadzow Street in Hamilton, was built around 1840 and showcases a late classical architectural style. The building is two stories high and constructed of painted ashlar stone, featuring broad raised margins. Its symmetrical front has three windows and a central panelled door that is deeply recessed within a plain architrave. This door is topped by a rectangular fanlight and a denticulated cornice.

The ground floor has architraves with recessed aprons, while the lugged architraves are raised at the center of the lintel. The building is capped with a balustraded parapet adorned with four urns. It has a slated roof and a corniced ashlar stack that is shared with the building above.
