Description
Cadzow Bridge, located over the Cadzow Burn on Cadzow Street in Hamilton, was built in 1836 and widened between 1900 and 1903 by Bonn Babtie and Bonn. The design is based on the Dean Bridge in Edinburgh but features classical-modern details inspired by Otto Wagner. The bridge is constructed of red sandstone and has three broad segmental arches with raised voussoirs. The footpath arches spring from piers and have a flatter architraved curve with keyblocks. The parapet is panelled externally, and the Wagnerian dies have curvilinear tops with pierced and sunk motifs.
