Description

Built circa 1880. Shows influence of Alexander Thompson.

Large 2-storey villa with square tower in re-entrant

angle of advanced inner gable, arched open porch at

left. Asymmetrical. Stone-cleaned ashlar, stugged

coursers, polished dressings including round-arched

lights, sculptured detailing; some detail (porch and

balcony of curved window bay in gable and right bay) a

different stone colour; plate-glass sashes; decorative

ironwork to balconies at tower and finial, fret-worked

gablehead; stacks; broad-eaved slated roofs. Modern

forestair on right flank.

Low boundary wall has modern iron railing, ashlar

gatepiers with sculptured detail.
