Description
This is a very large and impressive villa built around 1870 to 1880, possibly designed by Alexander Thomson or his firm Thomson and Turnball. The villa is located on the corner of Glenhead Road and features two storeys constructed of amber ashlar stone.
The main slate roof has a raised lantern in the center, and the eaves are supported by paired brackets. The chimney pots display Greek architectural details. On the first floor, there are three pairs of sash windows, while the ground floor has three-light bays that are pilastered and connected by a porch featuring Egyptian columns in antis.
Additionally, the villa is complemented by highly original square gatepiers that have clasping Doric pilasters.
