Description
16 Glenhead Road in Lenzie is a building dated 1881, attributed to Robert Turnball of Thomson and Turnball. It is designed as a double Thomsonesque Greek villa with two elevations that meet at a corner. The building has two storeys and is constructed of snecked rubble with ashlar dressing and quoins.
The elevation facing Glenhead Road features a gabled range that projects forward on the left side, with platform slate roofs and large boards that have pierced authemions. The first floor of this gabled range includes a block pediment and a carved anthemenion above a ground floor bow window. There are ironwork authemion balconies and a Doric pilaster doorpiece.
On the Victoria Road elevation, there is a two-storey bow and a set-back entrance wing. The original gatepiers are still in place and feature decorative discs.
