Description
Holmwood, located at 61-63 Netherlee Road in Glasgow, is a large villa designed by Alexander Thomson between 1857 and 1859. It showcases Thomson's unique Greek revival style and retains significant original interior features, along with a wing and outbuildings.
The villa is an impressive and asymmetrical structure, featuring a mix of single and two-storey elements that are attractively arranged. It has deep-eaved, shallow-pitched roofs and a tall lantern, with incised and sculptured details that are characteristic of Thomson's work. The exterior is finished in ashlar, with plate glass windows and sash and case windows, all topped with slate roofs.
