Boundary Walls, 74 And 76 Netherlee Road

74 Netherlee Road is a two-storey semi-detached double villa designed by Alexander Thomson around 1853, showcasing a symmetrical "parsonage style." The principal elevation features coursed sandstone, with squared and snecked stonework in the inner bays. Notable architectural elements include a base course, cill courses, canted bays, hoodmoulds, and overhanging eaves, along with unusual glazing and chamfered openings.

On the east (principal) elevation, the outer left side has an advanced gable with a four-light canted bay on both the ground and first floors. To the right, there is a timber two-leaf entrance door topped by a bipartite fanlight, accompanied by a recessed shelter or veranda with a pair of small narrow windows, all beneath a continuous monopitch slated roof. Above this entrance, a five-light window mirrors the design on the left side.

The south elevation has some alterations to its openings. The glazing is predominantly original and is notably deep-set within timber sash and cases, primarily featuring two-pane or single-pane over three-panes. The interior meeting rail is angled to slope downwards, and the roof is covered with grey slates, featuring large gable and central ridge stacks.

Inside No. 76, there are good cornices and ceiling roses in the hall and the principal rooms on both floors. The inner entrance door has a painted and etched glass fanlight, and there is a turned cast-iron baluster with a timber handrail. Recent renovations in 2004 uncovered evidence of simple stencilled decoration in the first-floor principal room.

The gatepiers and boundary walls, which may have been re-sited, consist of a squared and snecked tooled sandstone stepped wall to the east, featuring a blank armorial panel and ball finial detailing.
