Cathcart Mill, 27 Snuff Mill Road, Glasgow

Cathcart Mill is a group of former mill buildings located at 25 Snuff Mill Road in Glasgow. Built as a meal mill in the early to mid-18th century on the bank of the White Cart Water next to Cathcart Bridge, the site was converted into a cardboard mill in 1812, with a section becoming a snuff mill in 1814. The conversion to housing was completed in 1990.

The complex is asymmetrical, consisting of two and single-storey buildings on sloping ground, arranged in an L-plan with a single-storey addition to the south. The structures are made of squared rubble with ashlar dressings, some of which have been renewed in concrete. The roofs are covered with grey slates, and the buildings feature modern glazing and skylights.

On the west elevation, the L-plan block and single-storey range create a small courtyard, with a door and two windows on the eastern range. To the left is an advanced two-storey, four-bay range with a piended, platformed main roof, which includes a doorway and a window on the return. To the right is a single-storey, four-bay gabled range with a door leading to the courtyard.

The east elevation features a long single-storey and attic range with a forestair leading to an attic doorway in a gabled dormer head. There is a door at ground level to the right, and a cat-slide roof to the left that includes skylights.
