8A Kirk Road, Carmunnock, Glasgow

8A Kirk Road in Carmunnock, Glasgow, was likely built in the 1770s or 1780s. This two-storey building features a variation of a symmetrical nepus-gabled design, with additional door and window bays on the left side. It is constructed from rubble with droved ashlar dressings and plain flush margins, highlighted by prominent scrolled skewputts, all of which are painted. The windows have been re-glazed, but most retain their small-paned sash style. The south gable is skewed, and there are two close-spaced windows on the first floor beneath the nepus gable, along with originally two doors at ground level, one of which has been converted into a window. There is a single symmetrically arranged window bay on either side. A swept-roofed and slated dormer over No 8 was rebuilt to its original profile around 1980, with a similar dormer located at the rear. The rendered apex stacks are topped with a roof covered in small slates. The rear elevation has five bays and features a forestair leading to the inner door.
