Description

The Royal Bank of Scotland, located at 19 George Street in Whithorn, is a late 19th century building that features two storeys and an attic, arranged in four bays. The building has a symmetrical front with a central nepus gable, constructed from bull-faced ashlar with polished cream sandstone dressings.

On the ground floor, there are modern doors in the outer bays, each accompanied by a fanlight; the left fanlight is now blocked with a decorative iron plate, while the doors have double-plate glass glazing. The first floor contains four single light windows fitted with modern pivot sashes and plate glass. Above the nepus gable, there is a single window with plate glass sashes, and a shield with a crest dated 1885 is positioned above it. The gable apex features a corniced stack.

The building has end skews with skewputts, tall corniced end stacks, and is topped with Welsh slate roofs.
