227 Nithsdale Road, Glasgow

This large two-storey villa at 227 Nithsdale Road in Glasgow was designed by W F MacGibbon and built around 1880. The villa features mullioned and transomed windows with plate glass glazing, and is constructed from stugged ashlar with polished dressings. It has a steep-pitched, broad-eaved slate roof and a two-bay front that includes a full-height canted window. The porch is recessed to the left. The villa also has dormers, tall corniced stacks, and red ridging tiles. To the right, there is a recessed rear wing that contains a billiards room with a rooflight. The boundary wall steps down to the street and includes painted ashlar gatepiers that are margined and topped with caps.
