Description

Shamrockbank is a two-storey, three-bay villa built around 1870-1880, likely designed by architect John MacLeod. The exterior features stugged and snecked ashlar stone with polished dressings. The central entrance is a recessed door located behind an original glazed timber porch, which has bracketted eaves and cast-iron brattishing.

On the left side, there is a full-height canted window topped with a finial, while the ground floor has a bipartite window in a projecting bay to the right, also adorned with cast-iron brattishing. The windows are fitted with plate glass sashes. The villa has corniced end stacks, bracketted and deeply projecting eaves, and a roof that combines piended and platform styles, featuring additional cast-iron brattishing.

To the east, there is a low piended block that is recessed. A modern concrete stair at the rear leads to a first-floor entrance, which was originally a round-headed stair window but has been converted into a door. The property is marked by two square polished ashlar gatepiers to the northwest and includes an unusual rustic garden shed located to the southeast of the house.
