Description
This building is a cottage located in Elder Park, Glasgow, likely converted around 1885 to serve as a park amenity, complete with toilets and flanking wings that each feature an open verandah. The structure is built from rubble with ashlar dressings and has slate roofs.
The cottage itself dates from the earlier 19th century and was presumably originally a farmhouse. It is a single storey with an attic, featuring a central doorway with a panelled door, fanlight, and a consoled hood. On either side of the doorway are margined sash windows. The gabled stone wall-head dormers, which have moulded window reveals, date from the time of conversion, and there are end stacks.
The flanking wings may have originally been part of the farm steading. Each wing now has a large piended roof and an open verandah supported by cast-iron columns, accessible from the front and either side.
