Description
The Statue of John Elder, located in Elder Park, Glasgow, was created by the sculptor Sir J E Boehm and erected in 1888, which is indicated by his signature and date on the statue. This bronze statue depicts John Elder alongside a model of his "patent compound inverted vertical steam engine," a design that was patented by Randolph and Elder in the early 1850s. The statue stands on a tall granite pedestal that features classical detailing and plaques. It is surrounded by a circular granite coping with piers and iron chains, as well as a simple iron fence.
