Description

The Bunyan Monument, built in 1874 by J E Boehm, who later became Sir Joseph Boehm, features a bronze statue of John Bunyan that is life-size and stands on a stone pedestal. The pedestal is adorned with bronze bas reliefs on three sides, depicting scenes from Bunyan's work "Pilgrim's Progress." This monument was presented to the Borough of Bedford by Hastings, the 9th Duke of Bedford.
