Description

Gillespie, Kidd and Coia, 1961. Church and presbytery to N. Concrete and facing brick (now rendered), copper roofs.

CHURCH: trapezoidal on plan, with apse containing altar. Small irregularly-placed rectangular windows, glazed with coloured glass, at ground, main lighting from roof, which tapers down from apse to ecclesiastical W on variable pitch. Deep concrete eaves band, with plain cope. Apse roof flat.

INTERIOR: Pointed grey brick, polished wood. Confessionals at N, choir gallery over entrance.

PRESBYTERY: 2-storey and basement, set into hillside, with monopitch roof. Irregular rectilinear glazing in 1920s Dutch style. Vaulted concrete ceilings.

ROADWAY AND STAIRS: Sloping site dictates extensive stairways, concrete with steel rails, and ramped roadway and car park hard landcaped with lines and patches of granite setts.
