Janitor's Lodge, Battlefield Primary School, 44 Carmichael Place, Glasglow

The Janitor's Lodge at Battlefield Primary School, located at 44 Carmichael Place in Glasgow, was designed by MacWhannel, Rogerson and Reid and completed in 1912. This Edwardian baroque building features a large, imposing symmetrical front made of red Corsehill quarry ashlar from Dumfriesshire. It has two storeys with a central section flanked by turreted bays, while the ends are shallowly advanced. The eaves line is broken by four windows, along with a wide central window, all of which have arched heads. The roofs are covered with green slates.

At the rear, there is a detached low range to the north, which may be part of the otherwise demolished school built by Andrew Balfour between 1904 and 1906. The Janitor's Lodge itself is situated at the northeast corner and is also constructed of red ashlar. It has an asymmetrical design with bracketed eaves and a roof that sweeps down to a single storey on the west side. The roof is piended, featuring end stacks and a tall chimney stack made of red ashlar and brick, which is panelled at the upper stage. The entrance is marked by ball-finialed corniced square gatepiers, along with decorative wrought-iron gates and railings, which are set on low stone walls surrounding the playground.
