St John Residential Home, 23 Mansionhouse Road, Glasgow

St John Residential Home is a mid-19th century, two-storey, three-bay villa located on Mansionhouse Road in Glasgow. The building is generally plain, except for its impressive central porch, which features painted ashlar, inset pilasters, and a deep cornice. The main structure is constructed of snecked rubble with window openings that have unmargined chamfered and stop-chamfered details, although the glazing is modern. The eaves are blocked and there are end stacks, with a piended slate roof. To the left, there is a recessed low wing that has a modern tile roof and a large addition at the rear. The gatepiers have been reduced in height, with their caps now positioned slightly above the pier bases, while there is a single unaltered pier to the south. The railings have been removed from the low boundary.
