Description

Andrew Balfour, (of Steele and Balfour) 1914 (dated) as Calder Street Public School. Tall symmetrical and 3-storey; red ashlar; Edwardian baroque, giant pilasters to shallow outer pavilions on E front, close- spaced windows divided by masonry strips; original distinctive glazing pattern; blocked cornice, piended slate roofs with red ridging tiles; N flank to Calder Street with advanced centre with stacks.

Playground enclosed by iron-railed low walls, corniced square piers, art nouveau detailing to railings.
