Description

Candlish and Polmadie Church and Hall, located at 513 Cathcart Road in Govanhill, Glasgow, was designed by John Honeyman and built between 1874 and 1877. This early English Gothic church features geometrical tracery and is situated on a corner site, with a tower at the corner topped by a tall pyramidal spire. The church has a gabled nave and tall side aisles, which have their roofs concealed by parapets. The buttressed bays are adorned with tall windows that feature tracery. The west entrance front, facing Cathcart Road, includes a gabled doorway and a wheel window in the gable. The exterior is constructed of snecked ashlar with polished dressings and has a slate roof. Inside, the church has galleries on three sides supported by cast-iron columns with foliated capitals.

The hall is set forward from the iron-railed flank of the church and has a curved wall on the left. It is two storeys high and features arcaded pointed openings. The hall also contains a session house and a church officer's house.
