Medical Super Intendents House, 133 Balornock Road, Glasgow

The Medical Superintendents House, located at 133 Balornock Road in Glasgow, is a two-storey and attic, three-bay gabled, half-timbered Arts and Crafts villa designed by Thomson and Sandilands between 1900 and 1904. It is prominently situated at a junction within the hospital site. The building features red brick on the ground floor and cream harl on the upper storey, with some mullioned and transomed windows. The southern elevation has gabled outer bays that are connected at the ground level by a slated verandah. There is also a later single-storey wing to the north.

The villa showcases a variety of glazing patterns, including some four-over plate glass timber sash and case windows, as well as small pane timber casement windows. The grey slated roof has a complex arrangement of piended gables and one dormer that breaks the wallhead.

During a visit in 2013, the interior revealed several fine original features, including a timber dog-leg stair with decorative timber balusters and a decorative timber fire surround with an overmantel.
