Immaculate Heart Of Mary R C Church, 166 Broomfield Road, Glasgow

Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, located at 166 Broomfield Road in Glasgow, was designed by Thomas Cordiner between 1950 and 1952, reflecting the influence of contemporary architect Jack Coia. The church is constructed of red brick and features a gabled front with a sculptured figure positioned above the central entrance. Above this entrance is a distinctive four-spoked concrete wheel window, and the building is accentuated by clasping pilaster strips at the corners. The aisles are set back and buttressed on the eastern flank towards Syriam Street, while the main nave-chancel roof sweeps over the structure. The chancel presents a blank gable with tall windows on either side.
