Description
The building is a free-standing Ionic column, likely from the late 19th century, located at the axis of the park walkways in Springburn Park, Glasgow. It has been re-sited from Balgray Pleasure Ground. The column is made of glazed terra cotta, which is now painted. It stands on a two-step platform, and the scrolled column base is decorated with motifs, including a thistle, representing the nations of the UK and Ireland. The elaborate capital features masks, and above it, a polygonal sundial supports a unicorn with a shield bearing the St Andrew's cross.
