Water Tower Block, Stobhill Hospital, 133 Balornock Road, Glasgow

The Water Tower Block at Stobhill Hospital, located at 133 Balornock Road in Glasgow, was designed by Thomson and Sandilands and built between 1900 and 1904. This tall, dome-capped water tower features a large clock and is accompanied by single and two-storey kitchen and store ranges, making it a prominent feature of the Stobhill Hospital site. The structure is constructed from red brick with ashlar dressings and has clasping pilasters on the water tower. The kitchen and store buildings are adorned with Dutch gables. The entrance is characterized by channelled and battered masonry surrounding a large round-headed doorway. The windows are predominantly 6-over-2 pane timber in sash and case style, with some round-arched windows featuring timber glazing bars. The roof is grey slated and includes cast iron rainwater goods.

The interior was partially observed in 2013, revealing cast iron columns on the ground floor of the water tower and some part-glazed internal doors.
