Description

J L Bruce of Bruce and Sturrock 1881-2. Gothic church. Gabled W front with porch to N and original baptistry to S, gable end with low, partly blind arcade, triple lights above wiht flanking niches. Slate roof, red ridge tiles, cross finials. N and S transepts.

INTERIOR: nave, N and S aisles, apse with flanking chapels to E, deep organ gallery at W. Narrow arched nave arcades, supported on clustered columns, triple-arched E end framing apse with stenciled mouldings. Elaborately carved stone and marble altar rail, altar and reredos with pinnacled canopy. Wide arch-braced roof with cusped skylights.

PRESBYTERY: 1880, 3 asymmetrical bays; central timber porch, advanced bay to left with tripartite; all windows with 4-centred arched heads. Bull-faced rubble with ashlar dressings. Slate roof with red tile ridge.
