Springburn District Library And Museum, 179 Ayr Street, Glasgow

Springburn District Library and Museum, located at 179 Ayr Street in Glasgow, was designed by William B Whitie and completed in 1904. This single-storey building occupies a corner site and features a symmetrical main entrance elevation with nine bays facing east on Ayr Street. The exterior is made of stone-cleaned red ashlar.

The architectural style is Edwardian baroque, characterized by key-stoned architraves, a channelled base, and wide pilaster strips. The round-arched doorway is set within a recessed aedicular frame, topped with a pediment that includes a cartouche and inscription, all integrated with the main mutule cornice. The building has a piended slate roof that is enclosed by a roof parapet.
