Description

Built 1905, by Office of Public Works. Municipal park

glass-houses, with dome central at S entrance front

(gabled centre, flanking ranges), symmetrical; on plan,

a series of parallel E-W orientated ranges extending at

right angles from full-length centre linking range;

fully glazed above red brick dwarf walls, ironwork by

Simpson and Farmer, horticultural builders, Glasgow

(inscribed); more ranges may have been iron-crested than

now. To east, and partly at lower level, red-brick

boiler house and associated ranges, square-plan chimney

stalk with integral rainwater tank fixed to it; slated

roofs, sash windows.
