East Thorne Cottage, Pattiesmuir

East Thorne Cottage in Pattiesmuir is likely an early 19th century building constructed in two separate stages, with some additions. It is a single-storey, four-bay cottage with a rectangular plan, featuring a slightly lower eastern bay that may have been built as a separate dwelling or as an extension to the three-bay section. The exterior is harled with painted ashlar dressings and has coped gables.

The south elevation, which is the principal facade, has a symmetrical three-bay section on the left. It includes a central entrance with a boarded timber door and flanking windows. The coping of the original gable end is visible at the junction with the outer right bay, which has a single window.

On the east and west elevations, there is one window in each gable end, located to the right and left, respectively. A late 20th century double garage is attached at right angles to the right of the eastern end. The north elevation shows visible additions.

The principal south elevation features two-pane timber sash and case windows, while various other window styles are present elsewhere. The roof, which is a late 20th century replacement, is covered with red pantiles. The gablehead stacks at either end of the original block and the eastern bay are harled and painted, with round cans.

The interior has not been inspected since 1999.
