2 Hilton Road, Dunfermline

2 Hilton Road in Dunfermline is a single-storey terrace built around 1825, featuring four symmetrical double-fronted cottages with three bays each. The principal (south) elevation is made of coursed stugged sandstone, while the other sides are constructed from coursed sandstone rubble, with droved sandstone dressings. The original openings have droved long and short surrounds, and the principal elevation has slightly projecting cills. The gable ends are coped.

On the south elevation, there is a central entrance for each cottage, flanked by windows. Each entrance features a boarded timber door with a rectangular fanlight above, all of which are two-light, except for a replacement at No 2.

The north elevation displays irregular fenestration, with small lower height extensions (mostly flat-roofed) added to each cottage except for No 1. The entrances for Nos 2 and 3 are set back and have timber doors, with No 3's door being boarded and both having two-pane rectangular fanlights. There is a window to the right of the entrance for No 3, and a modern part-glazed timber door has been inserted to the right of No 4, with a window to the left of No 1.

The east and west elevations are blank gable ends. The principal elevation features 12-pane timber sash and case windows, while various window frames are used elsewhere. The roof is covered with grey slate and has five droved sandstone ridge stacks, each with corniced ashlar coping, including gablehead stacks at both ends of the terrace, topped with round cans.

The interior was not inspected in 1999.
