Description
Southern Cottage at Temple Farm is a single-storey terrace of three rectangular plan cottages built in the later 19th century. The structure is made of tooled sandstone rubble with stugged dressings that are droved to the margins.
The southeast elevation, which serves as the entrance, is asymmetrical. It features a glazed panelled timber door near the centre, with panelled timber doors in the penultimate bays to the left and right. The remaining bays have irregular fenestration.
The northeast elevation is blank and has a harled lean-to addition on the outer right side. The northwest elevation was not visible during the 1998 inspection. The southwest elevation has a window that is off-centre to the left and also includes a harled lean-to addition on the outer left.
The cottages have earlier 20th-century timber sash and case windows, with 12-pane and 6-pane configurations. The roof is covered with purple grey slate and features regularly placed ventilators and a lead ridge. The gable heads and ridge stacks are coped and polished, with circular cans. Cast iron rainwater goods are also present.
The interior was not seen during the 1998 inspection.
