Description

Earlier 19th, altered late 19th century. South west corner of

north block built between 1893 and 1911. Parts boulder

rubble, part whinstone, south block snecked rubble. North

elevation has circular horsemill openings, infilled with

doors and windows, conical slated roof and fine wrought-iron weathervane. Piended link block to good single-storey and

loft range with 2 semi-elliptical cartshed arches at west end

and 5 loft windows over. Piended slated roof with piended

loft opening in west elevation. South elevation has 2 clumsy

crowstepped gables, 20th century rebuild, central oculus

window and square turret to east. Various piended and gabled

ranges, and detached outbuildings to east, with slated roofs

and some ventilators. Later south range has garages in west

elevation and 2 tripartite piended dormers. Half tiled

interiors to garages. Setts on walkway floors. Curved rubble

bastion wall enclosing group to north.
