Steading, Mount Melville Home Farm

The Steading at Mount Melville Home Farm is an earlier 19th-century building that underwent alterations in the late 19th century. The southwest corner of the north block was constructed between 1893 and 1911, featuring a mix of boulder rubble and whinstone, while the south block is made of snecked rubble. The north elevation includes circular horsemill openings that have been infilled with doors and windows, topped with a conical slated roof and a fine wrought-iron weathervane.

There is a piended link block connecting to a good single-storey and loft range, which has two semi-elliptical cartshed arches at the west end and five loft windows above. The piended slated roof has a piended loft opening in the west elevation. The south elevation displays two clumsy crowstepped gables from a 20th-century rebuild, a central oculus window, and a square turret to the east.

Various piended and gabled ranges, along with detached outbuildings to the east, feature slated roofs and some ventilators. The later south range includes garages in the west elevation and two tripartite piended dormers. The interiors of the garages are half tiled, and the walkway floors are paved with setts. A curved rubble bastion wall encloses the group to the north.
