Description
The Walled Garden with Summerhouse at Craigtoun Park dates back to the 18th century and was reconstructed in 1902 by P. Waterhouse. It features rubble walls on the north and east sides topped with flat coping. On the inner face of the north wall, there are greenhouses, while the outer wall has single-storey brick heating chambers. The summerhouse, also from 1902, is octagonal, with half of it situated within the garden and half outside. Inside, it has an open elevation supported by four Ionic columns on a harled base, and a red tiled prismatic roof that is divided by a curvilinear gable with a pediment rising from the east wall. The summerhouse also includes three metal-framed small-paned windows arranged in a canted bay, each with three lights.
