Description
The Walled Garden and Summerhouse at Danestone House dates from the early 18th century and features an extensive walled garden that forms a rectangle tapering to the east. The tall brick walls enclose the garden, and there are some lean-to glasshouses located within the eastern section of the wall. At the southwest corner, there is a two-storey octagonal brick tower, which appears to have been truncated from a larger structure. This tower may have originally served as a summer house, gazebo, or dovecote. It has vestigial harling and a pair of band courses between the floors. The ground floor has rectangular glazed openings with six-paned glazing, while the first floor features arched single openings with cills that have been bricked up. The structure is topped with a brick wallhead cope.
