Description
The Walled Garden at Middleton Hall dates from 1852 and features an irregular plan. The outer walls are constructed of snecked rubble and red brick, which are swept up at the corners, while the inner walls are lined with brick and have droved dressings topped with ashlar coping. There is a random rubble lean-to potting shed and the remains of a boiler house on the exterior of the north wall, both covered by a slate roof. Inside the north wall, there are lean-to greenhouses, although much of the glass is missing. The greenhouses are flanked by two doorways: a wide doorway curving to the northeast and another doorway to the left on the south wall. In the center of the interior, there are remains of garden ornamentation, and a large paved area is located in the southwest corner.
