Description
Torcraik is an early 19th century, two-storey farmhouse with a rectangular plan and later additions to the rear. The principal elevation features tooled coursed sandstone, while the rest of the building is harled, with droved dressings and long and short quoins. There is a base course and slightly projecting window sills.
The southeast elevation is symmetrical, with a central doorway that has a 20th century flat-roofed open timber porch on a bullfaced stone wall. The entrance includes a glazed timber door with a letterbox fanlight, flanked by windows in the adjacent bays, and regular fenestration on the first floor.
The northeast elevation is asymmetrical, featuring a centrally located window on the ground floor and another window off-center to the right on the first floor.
The northwest elevation is also asymmetrical with irregular fenestration, including an L-shaped plan addition. This elevation has a glazed timber door leading to the southeast and a piended roof with a ridge stack.
The southwest elevation is blank.
The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a lead ridge, with ashlar skews. The building features cast iron rainwater goods and coped ashlar gablehead stacks.
