Description
This farmhouse, located in Easter Dalmeny, dates back to the earlier 19th century and features later additions. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure with a symmetrical front and an L-shaped plan, originally designed in a T shape. The building is constructed from squared sandstone, with squared and snecked sandstone at the rear. It has a base course, projecting cills, and long and short quoins, along with cylindrical finials on the dormer heads.
The north (principal) elevation has a single-storey gabled porch at the centre, which includes a two-leaf timber door with a fanlight set in a segmental-arched doorway. The porch features coped skews with gabletted and bracketed skewputts, and narrow windows on the returns. On either side of the porch, there are windows that align with the windows above in the upper bays.
The east elevation is asymmetrical, with a gable on the principal block to the right. It has a window to the left at ground level, with a corresponding window above, and an inserted window to the right at ground level. There are two slightly recessed bays on the left, featuring a modern glazed and panelled door with a fanlight, and a small window to the left. The first floor has regular fenestration in bays, with stone gabletted dormer heads that break the eaves.
The south elevation features an M-gabled rear with a single window on the right and a single-storey harled lean-to addition to the left.
The west elevation is also asymmetrical, with a gable on the principal block to the left, which has a window to the right at ground level and an inserted window aligned above. There is an inserted window in the left bay at ground level. The three-bay wing elevation is recessed to the right, featuring a central modern door at ground level flanked by irregularly spaced windows. The first floor has windows in bays, set in stone gabletted dormer heads that break the eaves.
The farmhouse predominantly features 12-pane timber sash and case windows, a graded grey slate roof, cast-iron rainwater goods, and ashlar ridge and gablehead stacks, which are coped with circular cans and skews.
