3 Main Street, Dalmeny

3 Main Street in Dalmeny is a mid-19th century mirrored terraced pair of single-storey, three-bay cottages, with later additions. The cottages feature stugged, squared, and snecked sandstone walls, complemented by droved sandstone ashlar dressings, long and short quoins, projecting cills, and chamfered arrises.

The north elevation has vertically-boarded timber doors with 2-pane fanlights at the center of each cottage. The windows are irregularly spaced in bays flanking the doors. The east elevation showcases a large single window with a slender timber mullion at the center, with a smaller single window inserted to the left. The south elevation is symmetrical, featuring a gabled wing that advances at the center, with piend-roofed rendered additions on the outer left and right. The west elevation also has a large single window with a slender timber mullion at the center.

The cottages are fitted with 10-paned lying-pane timber sash and case windows, slender timber mullions on the gable windows, and a graded grey slate roof. The eaves overhang, with exposed rafter ends and barge boards on the gables, is complemented by cast-iron rainwater goods and coped ashlar ridge stacks, which feature circular and octagonal cans.
