Description
Early to earlier 19th century, with reworking of late 18th century work and later work throughout. U-plan group sited on falling ground, comprised of 2-storey, 3-bay farmhouse and obliquely set, free-standing ranges; E range single storey, W range single storey with hayloft/granary. Rubble with roughly squared and stugged dressings; dry dash to front and side of house; brick additions and repairs and timber lintels to ranges.
FARMHOUSE: SE (entrance) elevation: facing open court, wallhead raised at least once. Door off-centre to right, blank at 1st floor above; window to each floor in flanking bays.
NW (rear) elevation: with 2 irregular windows at ground (smaller window possibly reinstated from earlier property) and small 1st floor window at centre.
SW gable: opening at ground.
INTERIOR: contains most original window fittings and joinery. 1 fireplace removed. Windows blocked (1993). End stacks with circular and polygonal cans. Ashlar coped skews. Grey slates (slipping to rear).
NE RANGE: containing barn with opening in gabled SE end. Brick stack to S corner. Several openings blocked and altered.
SW RANGE: sliding machinery door and flat-roofed dormer breaking eaves to courtyard side. Hayloft/granary door in SE gable accessed by timber ladder. Later opening to upper level in NW gable end. Substantial brick additions to outer elevation. Linked at N angle by brick screen wall with farmhouse.
Corrugated sheet metal roofing.
